Considering how there’s a mountain of content for The Sims 4, it’s incredibly easy to overlook some or all Stuff Packs. Most shouldn’t be ignored by veterans, as they introduce a few nice outfits, some furniture, and maybe an object we’ll use once before moving on to the next family. Crystal Creations is another one of those packs that once you try it, you’ll feel like you’ve been missing out. What began as making a few rings on a boring evening turned into several days of searching for crystals and building our Sim’s daily routine around a jewelry bench.

More Than Just Pretty Accessories
The coolest addition that comes with the pack is the Gemology Table. The collected or bought metals and crystals can be used to cut into gemstones. While doing that, we also slowly leveled up the Gemology skill. The first few levels are fairly simple and can feel a little repetitive, but once more recipes become available, the whole system starts opening up.
You might think it all comes down to polishing gemstones, but it’s far more interesting than that. We were combining different metals and crystals to make rings, bracelets, necklaces, and earrings. It was a joy to see how every combination produces something unique. Experimenting quickly became part of the fun. One of the nicest additions is the ability to craft an engagement ring ourselves before proposing. It doesn’t change the proposal itself, but it does add a little personality to the whole affair.
Digging Up Old Memories
Crystal Creations recognizes many crystals and metals from previous DLC. It took us by surprise to discover that collectibles we’d ignored for years became useful again. Revisiting older neighborhoods became a rewarding thing to do, as it allowed us to stock up on crafting materials. If you, like us, have built up a large Sims collection over the years, you’ll probably get even more out of this pack.
Jewelry With a Purpose
Of course, every good pack must have that mystical vein, and this pack is no exception, especially if you use the Mystical Moonlight Charging Grid to leave creations outside overnight to absorb lunar energy. Once charged, each piece gained a special effect. This effect depends on the crystal used.
Some helped with careers, others influenced emotions, while a few became surprisingly useful for everyday life. One bracelet almost completely removed our Sim’s bad moods. It did make life around the house noticeably easier. This, like the materials feature we mentioned above, opened up new avenues for how the game can be experienced, since all of a sudden you can change accessories depending on what our Sims are planning to do that day.
A Cozy Little Workshop
We loved the furniture. It works well for workshops, cottage homes, or anything with a slightly magical vibe. The new Create-A-Sim pieces are also among the better ones we’ve seen in a Stuff Pack. They don’t scream “new DLC” and mix nicely with clothing from the base game and other expansions.
The constant scraping and chiseling sounds at the Gemology Table are surprisingly relaxing. Watching jewelry quietly glow after charging beneath the moon gives the whole system a little extra charm. We did run into one amusing limitation, though: Werewolves can’t wear the new earrings while transformed. It makes complete sense once you see the model, but we still couldn’t help laughing when our terrifying beast completely lost the option to accessorize.
A Stuff Pack That Earned Its Place
We thought this pack could help us spend an hour making a few necklaces before moving on to something else. We couldn’t have been more wrong, as we spent a good chunk of our free time looking for rare crystals, then waiting for moonlight so a new bracelet could charge before work the following morning. Thanks to this pack, jewelry became part of everyday life and older collectibles mattered again.
