Well, this was something that we definitely didn’t expect. We’re getting a mobile version of Guild Wars Reforged later this summer. It made us beyond happy, and we didn’t even know we wanted something like this. The game is coming to both Apple and Android phones with a control layout built around touchscreens rather than mouse clicks. Yup, after controller support was added six months ago, it seems like touchscreens are next.
There will be a free version supported by ads. If you decide to go this route, you’ll be able to play through the entire first campaign, Prophecies—and trust us, that’s a lot of game to get through. Paying 10 euros will remove the advertisements completely. This also lets you trade items with other players and use the chat. Those wanting the complete package can pick up the Eye of the North expansion for 10 euros, along with the Bonus Mission Pack for around 7 euros.
Everyone plays in the same world
But what if you’ve been playing this game for a while on PC? Surely you don’t have to pay just for the privilege of having Tyria on your phone? Yup, you do not need to buy anything twice. You just need to sign in on your phone using your usual ArenaNet details to bring over all your characters and previous purchases. Doing this automatically upgrades the mobile app to the ad-free version. Newcomers starting fresh on a phone using an Apple or Google login can attach an email address to their profile later on. Adding that email makes it possible to download the computer version and pick up right where they left off.
Anyone with an Android device can go ahead and register on the Google Play store right now to get notified when the download goes live. Apple users will see a similar option pop up soon.
To mark the occasion there’s an update adding a brand new dungeon set in the post Searing areas. So, while you wait, feel free to dig in and find fresh quests to complete. Oh, and you can unlock a Mesmer hero named Ghost of Althea to fight alongside you.
