VZR Audio has announced the Model One MKII “D” Delta, a new flagship wired gaming headset. It is available today. It looks awesome and feels like a high-quality product. It’s pricey, though. If we’re to believe the company, the Delta builds on the existing Model One MKII design. We briefly tested that model a while back, and we were impressed with its tonal accuracy, clarity, and overall listening performance. This new model supposedly improves upon all those aspects.
The headset is aimed at both gamers and music listeners. VZR continues to use its patented CrossWave acoustic lens, which basically means that spatial audio is created without requiring a specific audio source or format. If you’re lucky enough to wrap these beauties around your pretty little head, you will discover a more natural and cohesive sound signature.
A Familiar Package
The Model One MKII “D” Delta includes a detachable broadcast-quality boom microphone and detachable audio cable, along with a carrying case. It is the complete package. It also includes a custom 3.5mm TRRS headphone/microphone cable, a 6.3mm adapter designed to support TRRS plugs, and a 3.5mm headphone/microphone splitter. The microphone itself is detachable, which is a big plus for us since we never use it. Solo all the way for us. :)
We have to admit, we expected it to be wireless, but we get why they went this way since the wired design also means VZR is avoiding the added latency and battery requirements.
Available Today
The VZR Model One MKII “D” Delta is available starting today for $379. Yup, that price is a hard pillow to swallow, but it does seem like a premium-quality product. Please note that the Delta represents an update to an existing headset rather than a complete change in direction. As we’ve mentioned, the technology behind the Model One MKII has been refined for a new flagship. We have a small chance to test this beautiful beast, and if that happens, we’ll gladly discuss in greater detail to what extent the improved accuracy lives up to the company’s claims.
