Prometheus Casts a Welcome Shadow on FATE: Reawakened

As gamers, we’re ancient, and we vividly remember a time when we lost many a weekend clicking on that little WildTangent icon. The FATE games were amazing and yet charmingly simple dungeon crawlers. That’s why we were insanely grateful when Gamigo and Tableflip Entertainment brought all four of those classic games back last year.

FATE: Reawakened is a unique project that not only breathes new life into the series but also puts a fresh coat of paint on a beloved core loop. After losing numerous hours to the collection, the wonderful people at Uberstrategist PR granted us a review code for the Prometheus DLC. In this expansion, we found an oppressive eternal nightfall, a stolen Golden Flame, and a very good excuse to start clicking on monsters again.

Clicking, Fishing, and Surviving

We know you’re here for the DLC—we get that. But we also have to say a word or two about the collection that made this expansion a possibility. FATE: Reawakened is huge. The 2025 release bundled four massive games together: the original FATE, Undiscovered Realms, The Traitor Soul, and The Cursed King. The coolest thing is that even though they bumped up the poly counts, added real-time directional lighting, and threw in ambient occlusion, it feels exactly how we remember it from 20 or so years ago.

Regardless of what game you pick, the key moments involve dropping into randomized dungeons. You click, and you let things pretty much explode into loot. Aside from melee, there’s ranged and magic combat. The moment your inventory fills up, you get the option to teleport to town or let your pet take care of the junk. Instead of trekking back, you just hand your loot to your pet. Aside from exploring, fighting, and sending our doggo to sell our junk, we also spent way too much time fishing at the hub. It’s a simple mechanic, really—nothing all that mesmerizing. And yet, catching a rare fish, feeding it to our pet, and watching it transform into a magical beast made us feel awesome regardless of how many times we did it.

The same, old monster clicking….

As we’ve said, to us, the FATE games feel deeply nostalgic, taking us back to a much simpler time when all we had was time. There are no strict classes, just a flexible skill system where you gain experience and invest points into what you like best, especially when it comes to unlocking legendary gear. Dying hurts, sure, and the three different resurrection paths forced us to pay a heavy cost to keep going. And yet, going we kept!

You, your pet, and the world!

Stepping Into the Eternal Night

The Prometheus DLC connects directly to the second game in the bundle. Trust us when we say that it’s a completely different vibe.

Prometheus is a lost city abandoned by its gods. There’s lore about Erebos, the Titan of Darkness, and a plot involving the Golden Flame—a fire that traps the entire hub in a state of eternal nightfall. Well, admittedly, these games are not beloved for their deep storytelling. Nevertheless, we welcomed the jarring contrast to the quaint town of Grove.

The ring of darkness calls to us

A whole new dungeon is crafted out of corrupted marble. It looks exactly as it sounds: epic. The marble hallways are flooded with shadow-born creatures—an ugly and mean bunch that will test your skills and make you constantly rethink your strategies. Oh, and in case you crave a new pet, how does a Baby Pegasus sound? Yes, say it with us: it sounds epic! That little guy makes every trip entirely worth it.

Shadow and poison

A New Expansion in a 20-Year-Old Framework

The four-game bundle is a massive, value-packed experience. Even though these games are older, they still play amazingly well with satisfying loot systems and engaging pet mechanics. Prometheus is a great DLC that will challenge you with tough enemies and daze you with eerie new places to explore. Understandably, the combat hasn’t really evolved past its nostalgic roots, but the actual dungeon crawling remains incredibly addictive. Well recommended!
