Pyrene demo: card-based exploration

The independent studio Two Tiny Dice has a playable demo for Pyrene. It’s a game that mixes dungeon exploration with card-based strategy. Pyrene plays out on a grid. To fight an enemy or use an item, you physically move your character’s card into them. This creates a puzzle-like feel where you have to plan your route across the board carefully.

Between runs, the demo lets you start rebuilding the town. Fixing up different buildings unlocks permanent upgrades. Better spells, new items that will show up in your deck laterm you name it. There are several different environments to explore. Each area has its own quirks, We liked how, in the mountain levels, cards actually slide down the grid to mimic the steep terrain.

The demo snows you all the fighting, looting, and rebuilding without relying on flashy trailers. If you feel this is you jam, make sure you check it out.
