Try as we might, we simply can’t have enough of the cozy games. We are tired, however, of inheriting all the dead relatives’ properties. We still want cozy games, just not the same type of cozy. Fifty farms are enough, thank you very much. When Restore Your Island crossed our screens, we braced ourselves for another agonizing tutorial about planting turnips. Instead, Paiband Game Studio shoved a plastic trash grabber in our hans and told us to start sorting aluminum cans from a literal landfill.
We couldn’t be happier
There are no romance arcs. No seasonal festivals. You’re just trying to get the beach clean enough to walk on without catching tetanus. And the wildest part? Watching that rusted junk slowly vanish into your recycle bins actually hooks you. Another great reward is helping a lot of super cute animals along the way.

Shell of a job
Pinpoint Scavenging: Players must hover a precise cursor over individual pieces of trash to collect them, requiring specific positioning rather than a sweeping area-of-effect gather. There are tools for faster cleanup as well, later down the line
Energy Economy: Progress is gated by an energy bar that limits how much you can do. It must be upgraded over time to efficiently clear larger sections of the island.
Companion Interaction: A loyal dog follows you around the island, offering minor bonding mini-games and a companion to pet between cleaning tasks.
The Trash-Sorting Treadmill
Welcome to a cozy game where you are grabbing rusted cans in first-person. You sort metal, plastic, and glass into bins. You find animals in distress and you do you best to set them free by playing a very short and easy mini game.

Trash talk
It all comes down to your stamina bar. Picking up trash drains your energy fast. But that’s ok because everything that you do feels like it’s worth it. The feedback loop feels great. Getting certain upgrades changes everything. You mow the beach. You can rescue a dog and watch him drag his butt across the sand. It’s a hypnotic grind. The graphics are absolutely amazing, especially the weather effects. It genuinely feels like you’re on that island. And you can’t help but enjoy every moment of it.
Oman’s Defensive Indie Team
Paiband Game Studio are a small team operating out of Muscat, Oman, and they even use Omani Rials for the in-game money.

Hey, did you know that:
The game features an actual in-game cassette player that players can find and interact with to physically switch between upbeat and soothing background tracks.
Restore Your Island* peaked at over 1,000 concurrent players on Steam just two days after its launch. It also sold 20,000 copies in just 4 days!
The game is currently offered in a Steam bundle with another incredibly literal indie title: A Game About Digging A Hole™.
The Final Breakdown
You have to tolerate some serious UI friction to love this game. But when you are kicking back by the virtual fire, listening to acoustic tracks on an in-game cassette player, it works. It is a digital stress ball.
Narrative (4/10) There is almost zero plot to speak of. You wash up on an island and start picking up cans. This is totally fine for a podcast game, but don’t expect a deep story.

Gameplay Mechanics (6/10) The core progression of upgrading your energy and clearing zones is highly addictive. It loses points specifically for that incredibly fiddly interaction dot that makes picking up trash a chore.
Audio (8/10) The ambient wave sounds are top-tier relaxation fuel. Finding an old-school cassette player to toggle the music on and off is a brilliant, tactile touch.
Graphics (7/10) The Unreal Engine lighting looks fantastic. The visual feedback of a cleaned zone is incredibly satisfying, hindered only slightly by basic animations.
Overall Score (6.5/10) A deeply relaxing, low-stakes cleanup hike that fights you on the controls but nails the cozy vibe perfectly.
