Wanting to capitalize on Halloween back in 2015, EA dropped The Sims 4: Spooky Stuff. We remember going over all the new items and really wanting them for that magical time of the year. Eleven years later, we finally got the opportunity to check them out. Spooky Stuff, however, isn’t a massive expansion that changes how your Sims live their daily lives—far from it. It is literally a box of digital Halloween decorations. And that’s perfectly fine if you want to introduce a bit of fright to your Sims’ everyday activities.

What is a Sunday Sims Spotlight?
A weekly article designed to inform The Sims community through a detailed look at expansions and numerous add-ons for the cult simulation game. We inform you about what works best in terms of mechanics and all the things you might encounter for decorating your home.
Carving Gourds and Smashing Them
The biggest addition in Spooky Stuff is the pumpkin carving station. If you decide to treat your Sim to one, they will stand in front of it and hack away to create different facial expressions—on the pumpkin, of course. The results are pretty funny. Mean Sims can stomp the finished pumpkins into mush. However, if you have a ghost Sim hanging around the lot, they can wear the carved pumpkin on their head. It’s simple and yet, a great little visual gag.
Oh, you also get a spooky candy bowl. Check it!

Be careful, though. The Sims like to reach in for a treat, but the bowl frequently fights back. These jump scares give your Sims specific moodlets. In addition, the pack adds a new Spooky Party social event. It’s another simple and self-contained way to entertain yourself where you invite the neighbors over, put out an Eyeball Cheese Plate, and everyone shows up in Super Llama or pirate costumes. It’s highly recommended if you want to throw a party, eat gross cheese, and, finally, get scared by a bowl.

The Skeleton in the Closet
The coolest technical addition is actually a set of new paintings. During the day, they look completely normal. When night falls, the images physically shift into pictures of vampires and werewolves. It’s a neat little trick. It actually manages to add some life to your walls in a fun and entertaining way. Aside from that, you do get two pre-made rooms that snap right into your house. Simple and stable, just the way we like it.

Selling digital cobwebs? Sure, but is that bad? Not really. We like spooky stuff, and this stuff pack hits just the right notes.
Spooky Stuff was only the fourth stuff pack ever released for The Sims 4.
Build/Buy Mode Objects has around 33 Items. You will find atmospheric décor, furniture and styled rooms.
Create-a-Sim has 37 objects. You will find costumes, accessories, hats, and several shoes and face paints.

The Morning After Halloween
Like most of us, you will likely use this pack exactly once a year. The pumpkin carving, as well as all the other items, are a fun distraction. Then there are also the costumes, which are beyond cute for a quick seasonal party. But once the in-game event is over, you will probably pack all this furniture right back into your inventory.
