Ardenfall is shaping up to be the exact kind of old-school, hands-off RPG that Morrowind fans have been begging for. Instead of the usual elves-and-orcs fantasy, it drops you into a weird, politically charged world full of windy plains, alien coastlines, and ancient ruins.

The demo has been available for a while now, so feel free to jump in if this seems like something you’re into. It unlocks a fresh chunk of the map called the Suromi Coast, packed with a new town, unexplored dungeons, and a handful of quests. It’s a huge step up from older builds, bringing noticeably smarter AI, meatier combat, and a lot more overall polish.
The coolest part? Building your character actually matters. Picking your race, stats, and even your tattoos changes how the game reacts to you. These choices lock and unlock dialogue, alter your combat style, and dictate right away whether NPCs will trust you or tell you to get lost.

Combat also gives you a ton of freedom. You aren’t just mashing the attack button. You can toss fire knives, chug potions, summon beasts to do your dirty work, or use silencing brews for stealth kills. And if you’d rather avoid a fight entirely, you can try navigating the complex local cultures. You can build genuine trust to open up new paths, or just lie and manipulate your way to the top.
The demo is out—definitely give it a spin if you want an adventure where your choices actually leave a lasting mark.
