EverSiege: Untold Ages isn’t another “safe” rogue-lite designed to be beaten in a weekend. It’s surprisingly dense, uncompromising beast that demands you actually use your brain while, at the same time, you’re caving in skulls. Some (the devs) call it hero-driven strategy. We call it a glorious, high-stakes juggling act where the payoff for a perfect run feels better than a cold beer after a double shift. And, trust us, we’ve had our share of second shifts. it’s identity crisis in a trench coat, sure, but that coat is packed with genuine ideas that blew our minds on numerous occasions.

In a nutshell
- Synergistic Combat: Fusing 6 Wargears with 6 Elemental Essences to create 72 unique spell evolutions.
- Hybrid Defense: Balancing high-octane hero combat with the strategic management of 38 buildings and 20 troop types.
- Timeline Ascension: A “time travel” mechanic that acts as a procedural difficulty scaler, changing map geography and boss behaviors.
Fun and unique game
How is EverSiege: Untold Ages going to consume your free time? By making you build a god-killing machine from the ground up.
You drop into a procedurally generated map, and the feels hit you immediately. Picking up the Osmunth hammer might feel like a stat choice, but it’s actually a commitment to a specific, crunchy weight that makes every swing feel like you’re trying to crack the earth open. That’s the case for all weapons and you will struggle to pick your favorite since they all are equally amazing and fun to use. The hacking and slashing, however, is just one aspect where the game shines. Another is the friction. One minute you’re hunting Creature Camps for Skill Shards, feeling like an untouchable warrior. The next, you’re scrambling back to Bastion because you realized your economy is in the toilet and your Protection Gates are held together by prayers. Then comes the army—or rather, the swarm. The hordes are relentless, a constant test of resolve. Seeing them at the gates leaves you breathless, heart racing in your chest. It’s these harrowing moments that are truly priceless; we simply can’t get enough.

Complex title that revels wonders on every turn
EverSiege: Untold Ages has 38 buildings. 148 items. 72 spell evolutions. 20 troop types. In an era of “minimum viable products,” this studio clearly chose “maximum possible chaos.”
The team has taken the DNA of challenging RTS games and injected it with the “just one more run” lethality of a rogue-lite. They were exactly the right team to make this because they clearly don’t care about broad appeal. They made a game for the people who cherish the time when games were actually dense and chock-full of features. We can only admire that.

Should you play it?
Yes. Even if you’re not fan of this type of games, yes, you should! EverSiege: Untold Ages offers a massive, rewarding challenge for players who are tired of being treated like they can’t handle complex systems.
Narrative (5/10) The “Time Travel” hook is mostly a mechanical excuse for the New Game Plus escalation, but it gives the world a sense of scale that most rogue-lites lack. Although I am grateful for the story, the team’s focus clearly lies in the rest of the key aspects.
Gameplay Mechanics (9/10) This is where the game sings. The synergy between the 6 Wargears and the 6 Essences is deep enough to keep you experimenting for months. It’s brilliant, crunchy, and deeply satisfying.
Audio (8/10) The sound design is a highlight. Every weapon has a distinct, heavy profile, and the tactical alerts for your base ensure you never lose focus on the strategy layer. The soundtrack captures the mood and pushes you to play just a bit more (and more).
Graphics (7/10) While the screen can get cluttered, the sheer spectacle of a fully upgraded Bastion holding back a horde is a sight to behold. The art direction holds up even under the weight of a thousand fireballs.

Overall Score (8.5/10)
When you take everything into consideration, EverSiege: Untold Ages is a truly complex game that takes the best elements from the strategy and roguelite genres to create a unique gem. It’s not an easy game, and the mistakes you make—and you will make them—will cost you dearly. However, the pull is so strong that you won’t be able to easily let go.
