Inky Blinky Bob: Corporate Horror Madness

Let’s be real: the gaming world didn’t exactly have “Lovecraftian hot air balloon combat” on its 2026 bingo card. But here we are. Inky Blinky Bob, the first big swing from Dubai’s Eldelic Games, is easily one of the weirdest things I’ve played this year. It’s essentially what happens when you mix a Victorian travel vlog with a fever dream about corporate monsters and bio-organic nightmares.

The Hook: Flying a Weaponized Balloon

Forget horses or spaceships. In this game, your life depends on a basket and a giant balloon. You play a detective dropped into a nightmare archipelago controlled by Quantum Corp—a company that clearly missed the memo on “basic ethics.”

The loop is simple but surprisingly addictive: you fly, you scavenge, and you try not to die. The physics of the balloon actually feel heavy. You’re not zipping around like a jet; you’re managing altitude and wind while trying to blast mutants. When you land to grab gears or scrap (which you’ll need constantly for repairs), the game shifts into a tense, grounded survival horror. Swapping between a mounted Gatling gun in the sky and an axe on the ground feels crunchy and satisfying, even if the transition is a bit jarring at first.

Atmosphere > Logic

Miroslav Ilić, the guy heading Eldelic Games, described the vibe as “Monty Python meets Lovecraft,” and honestly? He’s spot on. The game doesn’t take itself too seriously, which is its saving grace. One minute you’re genuinely creeped out by a distorted biotech experiment, and the next, you’re talking to a bizarre NPC who wants you to do a “gig” that makes zero sense.

The visuals aren’t trying to be “next-gen photorealistic,” and thank god for that. The stylized, surreal look does a much better job of masking the indie budget while leaning hard into the “madness” theme.

The “Jank” Factor (The Verdict)

Look, Inky Blinky Bob is ambitious. Maybe a bit too ambitious for a debut title.

When the game works—like when you’re finally breaching that massive energy dome to face the titular “Bob” (a flying octopus-balloon hybrid that is as terrifying as it sounds)—it’s brilliant. But it’s not all smooth sailing. I ran into some nasty frame drops during the big boss fights, and the audio had a habit of stuttering whenever things got too chaotic on screen. There were also a couple of moments where I got soft-locked and had to restart a checkpoint.

Is it worth it? If you’re tired of the same old “walking simulators” and want something that actually tries a new mechanic, absolutely. It’s got heart, it’s weird as hell, and the balloon combat is genuinely fresh. Just go in knowing that it’s a bit rough around the edges. Eldelic Games has a winner here, but they definitely need to push out a few more patches before this thing truly reaches cruising altitude.
